GainSpan is a leading ultra-low power embedded Wi-Fi semiconductor solutions company that connects Things to the Internet, and People to Things. Its easy-to-use system-on-chip (SoC), modules and software, let customers leverage the large base of Wi-Fi access points and devices to create connected products for healthcare, smart energy and industrial, commercial and residential control/monitoring.

Modules
Gainspan’s fully certified modules offer a quick, easy and cost effective way for device and appliances manufacturers to add Wi-Fi capabilities to their products. All modules are pin to pin and footprint compatible: the GS1500M provides leading-edge 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity with speeds up to 72 Mbps, while the GS1011M offers 802.11b connectivity with speeds up to 11 Mbps, and a number of options of antenna and power amplifiers for range and power consumption optimization. Both modules provide serial interface (UART, SPI) to an 8/16/32-bit host microcontroller and use simple AT commands. The modules are an ideal solution for organizations with limited or no Wi-Fi or RF expertise, as they not only dramatically reduce RF design time but also remove the burden of testing and certification.

Chips
The GainSpan GS1011 ultra low-power Wi-Fi system-on-chip (SoC) is the lowest power single chip Wi-Fi solution available in the industry today. It consumes just a few µA of standby current and goes from standby to active mode in just a few ms. The GS1011 supports the full 802.11b (11Mbps) data rates providing scalability on data throughput for higher bandwidth application while still providing the ultra low power consumption for years of battery life. The Wi-Fi chip handles all Wi-Fi functionalities, networking and security stacks, accelerating wireless device development cycles.

Software
GainSpan’s software includes extensive Wi-Fi capabilities with personal and enterprise security and Wi-Fi protected Set-up (WPS), a fully featured networking stack (e.g. TCP, UDP, HTTP(S), DHCP/ DNS server, application security) and reference application code, offloading when required resources limited host microcontrollers.

Evaluation and Development Kits
Evaluation kits and software development kits are all available, making it possible to easily evaluate, develop and deploy with GainSpan
