SANYO DENKI has released two new low-profile additions to the San Ace 9RA DC fan family: a 40 x 40 x 15 mm San Ace 40 and a 52 x 52 x 15 mm San Ace 52. Both are 15 mm thick, and both claim the lowest noise level in the industry among equal-sized axial DC fans, based on SANYO DENKI's own research as of May 25, 2026.
For designers working in tight enclosures where the equipment sits close to people, this is the combination that usually forces a compromise: thin frame, quiet operation, and enough static pressure to move air through a dense build. The 9RA series is aimed squarely at that problem.
What changed
Noise reduced by 6 dB(A) on both frame sizes, compared with the equivalent 9P type fans. At the low end of the lineup, the 5 V 52 mm model runs at 16 dB(A).
Power consumption reduced by approximately 58% on the 40 mm and 60% on the 52 mm, compared with the current 9P models. Rated input on the 52 mm 5 V part is 0.30 W.
Longer life than the headline number suggests. Expected life is 60,000 hours at 60 degrees C, and 90,000 hours at 40 degrees C (L10, 90% survival, continuous operation in free air at rated voltage).
Eco Product certified. Both sizes carry SANYO DENKI's Eco Product designation for reduced environmental impact in the product and its packaging.
SANYO DENKI attributes the gains to optimized blade and frame geometry plus improved motor efficiency, delivering lower noise and power draw at cooling performance equivalent to the outgoing 9P models.

Rated input, rated speed, and SPL are values at rated voltage in free air. SPL is A-weighted, measured one meter from the air intake side of the fan.
Mechanical and options
Both sizes are 15.2 mm thick nominal, with AWG24 lead wire. The 40 mm uses four 3.5 mm mounting holes on a 32 mm pattern with a 320 mm lead; the 52 mm uses four 4.5 mm holes on a 42 mm pattern with a 300 mm lead.
Lock sensor and no-sensor versions can be configured on both sizes. On the 52 mm, sensor configuration is available as an option on request.
Where these fit
SANYO DENKI calls out medical devices, servo amplifiers, inverters, chip mounters, and switching power supplies. In Northern California, that maps cleanly onto medical instrumentation, motion control and robotics, industrial automation, and power supply designs where the enclosure is shrinking but the thermal load is not.
The 5 V options are worth a second look for battery-backed or low-rail designs. The 52 mm 5 V part draws 0.30 W and still delivers 7.7 CFM at 16 dB(A), which opens up applications where a fan was previously ruled out on acoustics alone.
At the other end, the 40 mm 12 V and 24 V S-speed models hit 102 Pa of static pressure at 32 dB(A), which is the option to look at when the airflow path is restricted.
